Really sad to hear that Cowes sailor, Jonny Malbon has had to retire from his first attempt at the Vendee Globe solo round-the-world race.
Jonny was doing really well in the 26,000 mile race until he encountered damage to his main sail.
Worried that the sail would eventually disintegrate, he could nothing other than retire from the race.
Dee Caffari and Samantha Davies from Hampshire are still in the race which got underway back in November last year.
Our thoughts go out to Jonny, who is currently 300 miles south of New Zealand, and we wish him a safe journey home.
