Is your social media feed increasingly filled with images of the past? Are you enjoying this trip down memory lane? Is it a fun distraction or is it something else more sinister….
A unique chance to see this one woman show, written and led by Vix Lowthion – teacher, parent and typical Gen X-er.
Explore the sights, sounds, tastes and smells which bring back all our happy memories and share what made them special. Why is the past such a potent force – for consumers and also in politics? Will vintage items and retro beliefs ever make our country Great Again?
A Deep Dive into Nostalgia
Vix says,
“The past is a destination which we cannot return to. Leaders, artists and writers across the centuries from ancient Rome to the present day have played on nostalgia – our emotional longing for home.
“Music, food and art evoke strong feelings, and sharing memories can bring our community together.
“But in 2025 we increasingly see advertisers of products and ambitious politicians peddling nostalgia and exploiting our fondness of the past to promote their products or agenda.
“They do it because it works. Because we want to relive our past. Because the present – and the future – is complicated, challenging and scary.”
