More Jubilee news, this time from Richard, in his own words.
New Shanklin Town Mayor Steve Knight is guest of honour at Jubilee prize giving assembly, at Shanklin Church of England Primary School, at 9.30am on Friday 25th May 2012, together with three former Mayors of Shanklin – David Williams, Jack Luscombe and Richard Priest.
Jubilee holdall for school children
The Mayor, will be presenting the School with specially commissioned and designed Jubilee Holdall for each pupil, part of a joint project with Lake Parish Council, for Pupils of the Primary Schools in Lake and Shanklin.
The school have also finalised plans for the forthcoming Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, with pupils making specially designed crowns, planning a ‘coronation’ with special throne at St Blasius Church, a special picnic on June 1st, and, a special Jubilee Chocolate Bar design competition.
Great range of events planned
Chair of Governors Richard Priest said, “Thanks to Sara Hodgson and the whole team, the School has planned a range of events and activities for all pupils, that will make this Jubilee a celebration to remember for the pupils and the local community.”
Trevor Crook, owner of Shanklin’s ‘Sweets U Like’ shop in Regent Street, and sponsors of the Jubilee Chocolate Bar Competition said, “I am delighted by the quality and originality of the designs, and I would encourage people to have a look at the designs in Shanklin Library.”
Richard concluded, “All the classes in the School – USA, Uganda, Spain, Oman, Morocco, France, China, Australia, and Brazil – are getting into the Jubilee spirit, and we’d like to thank all the pupils and their parents for making this year special.”
