postal services petition

‘Keep our postal service local’ petition launched by Isle of Wight councillor

Freshwater South councillor, John Medland, has launched a campaign to keep postal services local in the West Wight.

He’s created an online petition addressed to Royal Mail, calling on them to,

Please keep postal deliveries local by having the rounds collected from your building in Tennyson Road, rather than forcing the postal staff to travel two hours or more to Dodnor sorting office and back each day.

We fear that over time the local staff will find work locally so they no longer have to spend all this travel time.

We need to keep local staff who understand the local complexities caused by houses without numbers, often without names. We need local jobs.

PLEASE KEEP THIS SERVICE LOCAL.

Cllr Medland is hoping to attract as many signatures as possible to influence the Royal Mail’s decision.
