Sandown gets ready to welcome a free community drop-in event tomorrow, Saturday 4th July.
The Sandown Jolly runs from 11am to 4pm at Boojum&Snark on the High Street.
Anyone with a connection to the town can pop in and share photographs, objects and memories.
What’s on offer
The team behind the day will lay on lunch, refreshments and creative activities throughout. There’s no need to book, just turn up.

Sandown Scribe forms the backdrop to the event, a wider project weaving together creative writing, fine art photography and visual installations.
Together these strands will build what organisers call a “penned portrait” of the town.
Isle of Wight artist Teresa Grimaldi, writer Anmarie Bowler and the oral history specialists at Discover More CIC have all pulled the day together.
Bring your memories along
Anmarie will spend the summer focusing on Sandown as part of a residency, and she’ll write an original piece of fiction inspired by the town once it wraps up.

Contributions from tomorrow’s visitors could feed straight into that finished work.
Organisers encourage anyone who owns a historic photograph or a meaningful object to bring it along.
They want anything that captures a piece of Sandown worth remembering.
