Latest Bestival News: More Acts Confirmed

Another 100 tickets were sold yesterday, so time is running out if you haven’t bought yours yet.

Roisin Murphy by Simon HenwoodIf the lineup you saw a couple of days ago wasn’t enough to get you reaching into your pockets, perhaps one of the latest additions will do.

First on the list is the beautiful Roisin Murphy! You will remember her from Moloko singing classics like ‘Sing It Back’, ‘The Time Is Now’ and ‘Fun For Me’. She went solo in 2005 with her acclaimed Matthew Herbert produced ‘Ruby Blue’ album. Now she’s back, and has been collaborating with the likes of Groove Armada and Bugz In The Attic, so where better to hear her than on the Big Top stage on Sunday just before 2manydjs!

We already knew that DJ Yoda would be back again, but this year he has something very special up his sleeve (just next to his lightsaber). He will be joined on stage by The Heritage Orchestra for a live performance of Gabriel Prokofiev’s pioneering new work Concerto for Turntables & Orchestra. Yoda will take live samples from instruments within the orchestra to perform his dex-trous magic along side. Can’t be missed, sounds like a fantastic experience.

Veterans Coldcut will be bringing us one of the mind-blowing VJ sets that they are so renowned for.

Buraka Som SistemaBuraka Som Sistema are one of those bands that you are soon going to start hearing a big buzz around. Freshly signed to the brilliant Modular label and hailing from Portugal they are giving musical genres like Kuduro or Carioca Funk a new lease and some serious dance-floor grease! I’d highly recommend that you get over to their MySpace.

Knowing that the Dub Pistols will be returning, I’d assumed that Terry Hall would be coming along to take part in their set, and pleasantly surprised to hear that he’ll be laying down a DJ set as well as joining his current compadres live on stage!

Finally, any Kraftwerk fans should head for the tent where Man Machine will be playing. I’ve been listening a lot recently to Senor Coconut’s rendition of Kraftwerk and have got the taste for it again, so look forward to some of Man Machine’s action.
