Letter: Courtesy, kindness and professionalism shown by St Mary’s staff

OnTheWight always welcomes a Letter to the Editor to share with our readers – unsurprisingly they don’t always reflect the views of this publication. If you have something you’d like to share, get in touch and of course, your considered comments are welcome below.

This from Peter Shreeve, Carisbrooke. Ed

In recent years I have had the dubious honour of visiting St Mary’s hospital more frequently than I want.

My most recent visits during my wife’s 12-day stay.

Yet again, I witnessed first‑hand the exceptional care provided by staff across the service.

From the ambulance team who first responded, to A&E reception, to the many clinicians involved on arrival. Throughout her time on the stroke ward, every interaction was marked by courtesy, kindness, and professionalism.

At all times staff offered thoughtful and coordinated support that made a difficult period feel manageable.

Their obvious dedication to the wellbeing of patients and families is outstanding. We are deeply grateful for the care she received at the time as well as other ongoing support now being provided elsewhere.
