Letter To The Editor: Independent Island Website Launched

We always welcome a Letter to the Editor to share with our readers. This in from Dave Quigley of East Cowes. In his own words. Ed

Independent Island websiteWith the IW Council elections coming up next year, I found that with caring for my wife 24 hours a day, I knew that the only way I could get involved was through my computer.

To that end I have set up a Website that has the sole aim of promoting the Independent councillors we currently have and to support all of the Independent candidates for the election. There will be no mud-slinging or personal attacks made on this Website and it will be a 100% positive effort.

No room for party politics
The aim is to provide publicity for the Independents as I am, and have been for many years, against party politics in Local Government.

I know I will get the usual “they call themselves Independent but they are only another party”, the object of being Independent is not to be a single voice but to be one of a group of like minded individuals who are Independent of political influence, the aim being to do what is best for the Island and for Islanders and to work together for that cause.

Run independently
Although the most of the material displayed on the site is provided by the individual Independent councillors, the site is totally owned, financed and run by myself at no cost to anyone else, my sole aim being to see an Independent ruling group in County Hall after 2nd May 2013.

If you wish to know what is happening in the Independent world on the Isle of Wight, please check the Website from time to time as it will be continually updated as and when I get newsletters etc., to add to it.
