The commercial and broadened scale of Tim Burton’s work is an acquired taste, but considering that his approach to his own style and writing is truly remarkable, it seems to be a huge shame that with films such as ‘Planet of The Apes’, ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ and now ‘Alice In Wonderland’, the director has been successful commercially, but sadly uninspiring after considering the brilliance and daring of earlier projects.

Ineffectual and irritating parody
With little to explain how debatable it is to title a film ‘Alice In Wonderland’, when the story has lifted characters and changed a remarkable story into an ineffectual and irritating parody.

When Tim Burton has not only strong and imaginative style, as films such as ‘Beetle Juice’, ‘Edward Scissorhands’ or even ‘Sleepy Hollow’ revealed massively, the reasons for instead wasting so much talent on remarkably unimaginative works, that has been done already and done surprisingly well, why then squander the gift so in-comprehensively?

‘Alice In Wonderland’ has been covered and remade so many times that Tim Burton’s determination to give it the CGI treatment may have been a sure financial decision, but previously, his approach to risqué style and remarkable vision is sadly lacking in yet another movie that reveals him to be possibly hanging out with Quentin Tarantino, with regards to being lazy with effort.

‘Alice In Wonderland’ does look visually alright, but some reminding to note that Tim Burton did direct ‘Mars Attacks’ and the stunning ‘Ed Wood’, yet it seems that now he’s directing films that my mother would like! What happened Tim? What happened?
