Lifeboat Makes Night-Time Dash to Stranded Yacht

Tabby Cat out on the water:A yacht on a voyage from Jersey to Hamble had to call for assistance in the early hours of Sunday morning, when it was unable to start its engine in the light wind conditions, and was also in a no-anchoring zone.

The 46 foot Dido with four people on board, had alerted Solent Coastguards of the problem when off Gurnard, just before 2 am.

Although Cowes lifeboat, with Patrick Moreton at the helm, quickly responded to the call it found the Dido was by then off Cowes.

It towed the yacht into East Cowes Marina.
