Light Aircraft Collision: Victims Named By Police

Yesterday afternoon, Police named the two who tragically died in the light aircraft collision on Saturday afternoon on the Isle of Wight.

Although the bodies have not been formally identified, the families of Michael Willis, aged 73 from Green Lane, Stanmore, Middlesex, and his son, James Willis, aged 42 from The Dingle, Hillingdon, London have been informed and are receiving support from Hampshire Constabulary officers.

Their plane, a Mooney M20B four seater aircraft, registration G-JAST, crashed in the woodland near Havenstreet on Saturday afternoon.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch, with the support of the Hampshire Constabulary will investigating into how this incident happened.

In the meantime, they are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any other information, including photos or video of the incident or time leading up to it, to get in touch by calling 101 or, from outside Hampshire on 0845 045 4545.
