Blast Wall exhibition at the Bunker Gallery, Lisa Traxler 2021

Lisa Traxler’s BLAST WALL Annual Exhibition at The Bunker Gallery

This August Bank Holiday weekend head down to Old Park Road in St Lawrence for the annual exhibition at The Bunker Gallery.

Artist Lisa Traxler tours her new sculptures and wall-based works to this unique coastal pop-up gallery space alongside her working studio.

The Bunker Gallery
The Bunker Gallery is an experimental project space with an annual selected exhibition within the walls of this decommissioned WWII radar bunker.

The exhibition this year will be ‘Blast Wall’  Lisa’s solo Arts Council Awarded show fresh from its London preview at the Foundry Gallery in Chelsea brought to the Island for this special open weekend.

Exploring the notion of home
When does a place become home? Is it the building, your belongings, memories created, the everyday ordinariness or a place of safety and comfort that we retreat to?

‘Blast Wall’ explores the notion of ‘home’ and the artist’s relationship to her distinctive home, charting her experience of living within a World War Two radar bunker on the south coast of the Island.

The artist
Lisa is continually experimenting with the inter-disciplinary nature of contemporary art and is comfortable working in both two and three dimensions, whilst exploring ways to bring the two together.

Her works are concerned with her connection to her immediate landscape and often incorporate historical references. Hers is a landscape of ‘place’, an abstract concept rather than a traditional depiction.

Lisa is an award-winning artist and elected Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and the Royal Watercolour Society.

Limited edition mini ‘Ghost’ sculptures
To celebrate this exhibition, Lisa has created a limited edition mini ‘Ghost’ sculpture (pictured below).
