Man jumps from ferry: Swiftly rescued by crew

Crew from the Red Eagle sprung into action last night (Friday) after one of their passengers went overboard.

A Red Funnel spokesperson said:

“Red Funnel can confirm that there was a man overboard incident from the Red Eagle operating the 1830 departure from East Cowes to Southampton service on Friday 10th July 2015.

“The incident, which involved a passenger, occurred at approximately 19:35 near Southampton Dock Head. The crew were alerted by passengers and immediately executed their man overboard procedure.

“Red Funnel vessel Red Jet 4 and the Hythe Ferry were also in the vicinity and assisted in the rescue. The Red Eagle’s rescue boat was launched and recovered the person from the water, prior to them being passed to the Southampton Harbour Master’s Launch.”
