Man Overboard Wightlink Ferry Rescued Safely

A man was rescued from the water in Portsmouth Harbour yesterday after he climbed over the railings of a Wightlink Ferry and jumped in.

Wightlink FerryThe man was on St Helen, leaving Portsmouth Gunwharf at 11.30am yesterday (7 May).

Kerry Jackson from Wightlink told VB, “The Captain and crew followed all emergency procedures, including the deployment of life buoys and the launch of the rescue boat.

“The passenger was rescued from the water and was transferred to the police launch boat – who were in attendance along with the RNLI Inshore Rescue – where they were taken to shore and transferred to the QA hospital in Cosham.”
