VentnorBlog was contacted by VB reader Tobes1 this evening, letting us know about a large gathering of Police near the beach in Ryde. He also sent us the photo you see to the right.
We’ve contacted the Police who tell us that they were called to the coastline at North Walk in Ryde just after 7:30pm.
A man in his 30s was seen in the water, about 500m offshore.
Police waded in to try and reach him and the Coastguard was scrambled to the scene.
He was rescued by the Coastguard Ryde Inshore Rescue and was found to be suffering from cold.
He has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he is recovering.
