Mayor’s Charity Fund Proudly Awards £500 to Oakvale Foodshare’s Meal Bag Initiative.

Ryde Town Council is delighted to announce that Oakvale Foodshare have been granted £500 from the Mayor’s Charity Fund to further its mission of providing essential meals to families in need.

This funding will be channelled into creating meal bags that cater to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring that families have access to meals.

Founder of Oakvale Foodshare, Jacqui Tweitman said,

“I am grateful for the generous support from the Mayor’s Charity Fund which allows me to enhance our efforts in addressing food insecurity within our community and kick start our meal bag initiative, which is launching during the October half term, alongside the foodshare stand.”

We encourage community members, businesses, and supermarkets to get involved by donating surplus food items to the Foodshare stand. These contributions not only reduce food waste, but also extend a compassionate hand to families in need. Donations can be collected from Ryde, Shanklin, Newport, or surrounding areas.

Mayor of Ryde, Councillor May, said,

“Oakvale Foodshare’s dedication to addressing food insecurity is truly commendable and we are honoured to support their meal bag initiative. Oakvale Foodshare started during the pandemic and continues to help numerous individuals and families.”
