‘Me and My Sister’ Win Place in Regional Finals for Live and Unsigned Competition

Word reached us last night that Island band, Me and My Sister well known on the music scene over the last year for their acoustic indie/pop music (complete with handclaps, harmonies and occasional dance moves), have made it through to the regional finals for ‘Live and Unsigned’.

Yes, the lovely Becky and Vicky, who are now living and working in London (but back home most weekends they tell us), recently entered one of the UK’s biggest search for live talent.

They competed against over 600 others on the day and managed to wow the judges of the National music competition sufficiently, gaining their place in the regional finals.

It’s brilliant news for the girls and also another great advert for the Isle of Wight.

Me and My Sister: Win Place in Regional Finals for Live and Unsigned CompetitionSo what’s the competition in aid of you ask? Well, the overall winner will be offered a recording and management contract with Future Music with an investment of up to £20,000 to release their single. The winners will also be crowned the UK’s best Live and Unsigned acts in front of a capacity crowd, including many record company A&R and other entertainment professionals from within the music industry.

Vicky tells us ….

We’re absolutely delighted to have got through – the whole thing was totally crazy; it was like something off of the X Factor! After a long wait, we were ushered into a room to play in front of a panel of judges, who stopped us before we’d even reached the chorus of our song! We thought that this was a bad thing and that there was no way we’d got through… but within seconds of leaving the room, our name was called. WE’D GOT THROUGH!!

The Live Regional Finals in London on the 29th March. We’re sure you’ll all join us in wishing the girls the best of luck.

Vicky and Becky are real sisters and formed the band ‘Me and My Sister’ officially back at the beginning of last year. Since then we’ve played loads of really cool venues, including; Main Stage at White Air Festival 2008; The Fly, Oxford Street; Ryde Theatre, Ryde; The Notting Hill Arts Club; and Cowes Week as well as competing in the Live Wired competition for a place at the Isle of Wight Festival.
