Meet the nominees for the Isle of Wight’s most inspirational person of 2024

Ahead of The Vectis Radio Community Awards evening on the 15th March, the Community Radio Station is giving their listeners the opportunity to vote for the Most Inspirational Person in the Isle of Wight community.

Most categories of this year’s community awards are being decided by a panel of judges but for this category, the judges have whittled it down to eight people and now it is up to the public.

Voting opens on the 19th February and people can vote for their choice from the list of nominees for the Most inspirational person in the community 2024.

And the nominees are ….
The nominees for this category are:

  • Kelly Marrison (Burlesque Chair Dance)
  • John and Rob Keywood (Ace Waste)
  • Michael Paler (Many Organisations)
  • Kirsty Chapman (Better Days Cafe)
  • Jane Allchorn (Community Spirited Cafe)
  • Tim Gibbs (Yarmouth Pharmacy)
  • Dale Hillier (Veterans Hub IoW)
  • Alan Taylor (IoW Prostate Cancer Support Group)

Currie: All the finalists deserve to be on that list
Maggie Currie, one of the event organisers said,

“This new category was introduced after receiving feedback from last year’s awards.

“We decided to let the judges select a handful of deserving finalists from the many entries we received and then put those out to the public vote.

“It adds to the excitement as the results of the public vote won’t be announced until the evening event on the 15th March.

“I can hardly wait to find out who wins, but I have to say that all the finalists deserve to be on that list.”

Station Manager, Ian Mac said,

“Last year’s awards were an eye opener and a really uplifting evening. This new category, introduced by public demand, builds on the success of last year. We are grateful to our Headline sponsors, The Waterfront Restaurant, Totland, for enabling us to run this event.”

This is the only category within this year’s awards that is voted for by the people, and voting closes at 23.59 on 4th March.
