Met Office issues ‘Be Aware’ weather warning for heavy rain on the Isle of Wight

The Met Office have issued a ‘Be Aware’ weather warning for heavy rain on the Isle of Wight.

Valid from midnight on Sunday to 6pm on Monday, the warning reads:

Heavy rain will affect parts of southern England, South Wales and the southwest Midlands during Sunday night and Monday. 20-30 mm of rain falling widely with a few places seeing as much as 60 mm.

What should I do?
Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.

Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
