Met Office issues yellow wind warning: Coastal areas brace for strong gusts

More windy weather is on the way this week. The Met Office hsve issued a yellow weather warning for wind.

The warning, valid from 1am to midday reads:

A spell of strong onshore winds will affect parts of the England Channel coastline overnight Monday and Tuesday morning.

Gusts will reach 40-50 mph just inland from the coastal strip and potentially as much as 60 mph along the most exposed coastal spots.

Through Tuesday morning, the wind will ease and direction change to offshore.

What to expect

  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
