Mill Bay: Just Say No: The Video

Mill Bay: Just Say No: The VideoA certain visionary, Ronnie Blunt, has pointed out the connection between our first story yesterday and a bit of television history.

Who could have realised that back in 1986 the members of the Grange Hill cast would be such visionaries?

Many thought that the “Just Say No” song was about drug use and abuse, but could it be that it was about the Mill Bay development?

We implore you to watch the video below and listen to the song, which starts about 30 seconds in.

The Grange Hill-ers provided life guidance on the side apparently, “Don’t listen to anyone else, all you’ve got to be is be yourself,” leading us down the path of individuality they warbled, “You don’t have to be part of the crowd, Just Say No”

Ah, but wait for the rap. While there’s beautiful in its stilted delivery, clearly, there is no connection to the Mill Bay.

What was it that made you do it,
You had no need
It was the taste and the craving, then it turned to greed
For to be the main man, you didn’t really understand
After all you did to me, expecting me to shake your hand
No!
