The Tide Is High: But I’m Holding On (for another competition)

huge wavesThe moon was looking particularly spectacular over the water last night. I tried to get a shot with my camera phone, but sadly is just ended up looking like pap.

Anyway, special thaks to Greenboy who sent through some interesting info about the changing tides this week.

Unfortunately we’ll be bigging it up at Bestival, but for those of you still close to the coastline, dig out your wellies and keep an eye out for the predicted high tide.

Those of you who fancy yourself in the role of a modern-day King Canute are needed on stage this coming Saturday just after 00.10 and again at lunchtime 9th Sept when an exceptionally high tide is due. The sun and the moon have ganged up, and if the wind joins in as well, we are in for a serious wetting. Cameras and wellies at the ready. (Environment Agency warning issued to the IOWC 1/9/06)

There’ll be a big gold star for the most dramatic photo or story …. or we might even try and sort out a proper prize. Send in your entries to ventnorblog at gmail dot com.

By the way, full moon at the beginning of Bestival …. I’m starting to get scared, better keep away from those infamous Ventnor Vampires/Werewolves.
