More Views on Council Budget Cuts (podcast)

More Views on Budget Cuts (podcast)At the end of the public meeting last night to discuss the Isle of Wight council’s (IWC) proposed budget cuts, we caught up with a concerned member of the audience who had raised some good points during the discussion.

She told us how disappointed she was with the proposed cuts, adding that it seemed no thought had been given to the impact those using the services would suffer.

As the service users affected are some of the most vulnerable people in society, she felt that we all had a duty of care to protect them and provide them with everything they needed.

During the discussion, she questioned whether the IWC had carried out an equality impact assessment.

Apparently, this is something all public authorities have a duty to do before making any decisions.

She also touched on the question of whether the Commission for Quality Care had been consulted on the proposed changes.
