Motorists Urged to Consider Cyclists On Our Roads

Thanks to Helen Cunningham of Vintage Vacations for sending through this cautionary tale. Ed

Topiary CyclistsI’d like to offer a ‘heads up’ to all Blog readers.

Yesterday, a lovely family from Southsea came to stay in one of our trailers.

They made the decision to leave their car at home and come on bikes. They have planned all sorts of routes for their stay, using the cycle path network but there are sometimes when you HAVE to go on the road.

Unfortunately on the way from Ryde to Newport a car hit Mum and Dad and sent them flying …. luckily no-one was badly hurt and lots of nice people stopped to help.

It made me think though …. as we go forward with the ‘Eco Island’ plan we will hopefully encourage more visitors with a greener outlook and this will mean more tourists on two wheels instead of four.

I for one, drive the same routes frequently and will now try and make a real effort to expect the unexpected.
