British Sausage Week Celebrations in Shanklin

British Sausage Week kicks off on Monday (2nd Nov) and a love of the beautiful banger will not be going un-noticed on the Island.

National Sausage Week CelebrationsOn Friday morning this week, Jon Gilbey of the Paramount Restaurant in Shanklin will be combining a celebration of National Sausage Week with the relaunch of his restaurant.

He’ll be joined by the Island’s Town Crier, Shirley Ballard, a handful of Isle of Wight Councillors and Island magician, Crisco as they officially open the refurbished restaurant and enjoy a taster selection of Island produced sausages (including veggie ones for the non-meat eaters).

Jon said “We’ve been working with customers and suppliers, such as Medina Meats, to upgrade the facility and we thought we could have a bit of fun, as well as promote Island food, and we appreciate the Town Crier coming along to cut a ribbon and sample a range of sausage products”.

Those attending the launch will also be encouraged to take part in a quiz provided by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The CF Trust have once again teamed up with National Sausage Week in order to raise awareness and funds for research into the life threatening, genetic condition.
