Around a month ago OnTheWight reported that Pihl, the company that was commissioned by Isle of Wight council to construct the much-delayed Cowes Enterprise College, had filed for bankruptcy.
This evening, Stuart Love, Director of Economy and Environment at the Council, told the Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel that the Pihl UK, who were responsible for the construction of CEC has formally gone into administration and the Danish parent have been unable to meet debts.
Isle of Wight impact
The upshot of this for the Island, revealed this evening, is that the council will need to find a new contractor to finish work on the Cowes Enterprise College Project.
OnTheWight has put a question into the council to asking how long it might be to appoint another company.
A question from a member of the public, David Miller, led Stuart Love to says the final phase of Cowes Enterprise College was not mission critical to school.
