New family home with direct beach access proposed for Gurnard on Isle of Wight

A ‘high quality’ family home with direct beach access could be built in an Isle of Wight seaside village.

Applicants Keats and Simanke have submitted revised plans to County Hall for the construction of a four-bedroom house with a garage at 60 Solent View Road in Gurnard.

The proposed building would replace a house the council gave consent to demolish in January last year.

Maximising views towards the sea from the principal living spaces
A Design and Access statement prepared by Studio Dot says,

“The goal of the revised proposal is to maximise the views towards the sea from the principal living spaces, respond sensitively to the existing topography of the site by stepping the building down towards the west and create a contemporary dwelling that retains a traditional influence, appropriate to the varied character of the surrounding area.

“The site is a large plot with a private rear garden that extends through trees and planting all the way to Gurnard Bay, offering direct beach access.

“The site is well-screened from neighbouring properties and the road by established hedging and planting on the northeast and southwest boundaries.

“Notably, the site benefits from expansive views across the Solent to the north and northwest.”
