New Film Season Off To A Cracking Start

Ventnor Film Society’s resumed spring season got off to a cracking start with a screening last week of When You’re Strange: A Film About The Doors.

The MaidAt the new venue of St Francis School (formerly St Boniface) in St. Boniface Road, Ventnor, the audience enjoyed the brilliant film, the warmth and comfort of new surroundings, improved acoustics and the feeling that this is a new beginning which promises well.

Thanks to the support of the Head Teacher, Mrs Hewkin and her staff, they overcame any practical obstacles and the use of the school hall has been granted for the rest of the season.

Next screening
Next week’s offering, on Wednesday 16th at 7.30 pm is The Maid from Chilean director Sebastian Silva in 2008.

Working most of her life with the same family, the maid Raquel has almost become one of them, but not quite. Her vulnerability is portrayed with subtle shifts in her mood revealing the girl that was, and the old woman she is becoming.

It is a great star performance, reason enough for seeing this film and enjoying the new venue. Everyone is welcome and entrance is £5 (£4 concessions).
