Bembridge Fort is opening its doors to visitors this summer with an exciting programme of events designed to showcase one of the Isle of Wight’s most remarkable historic landmarks.
Alongside the launch of The Fortyard Sessions, a brand-new series of relaxed summer social evenings, the fort is also introducing exclusive hosted tours, giving visitors the opportunity to explore areas of the site that are rarely open to the public.
A new summer social at The Fortyard Sessions
Taking place every Tuesday throughout August between 5-9pm, The Fortyard Sessions will transform the historic courtyard into a vibrant outdoor social space where guests can enjoy long summer evenings in a great setting.
Designed as an informal “drop in and stay awhile” experience, the evenings will feature freshly prepared food, a pop-up bar serving local beers, ciders and spirits, chilled DJ sets and plenty of seating to relax with friends and family.
Whether dropping in after work, meeting friends for a drink or discovering Bembridge Fort for the first time, visitors can enjoy a unique atmosphere within the fort’s historic walls.
The Fortyard Sessions celebrate the simple pleasures of summer:

Discover the Hidden History of Bembridge Fort
History lovers can also experience the fort like never before with the launch of exclusive Summer Hosted Tours, running every Wednesday and Saturday from 29th July 2026.
Led by knowledgeable guides, each two-hour experience takes visitors deep inside one of the Isle of Wight’s most fascinating Victorian Palmerston forts, uncovering stories, architecture and hidden spaces that many have never seen before.
Guests will explore a number of rarely accessible areas, including:
- The Terreplein
- The Dry Ditch
- The extensive underground tunnel network
- Historic military features and viewpoints across the site
With just 25 places available on each tour, tickets are expected to sell quickly.
Tours take place at 11am and 2pm, offering visitors an immersive journey through over 150 years of military history while learning about the ongoing restoration and future vision for Bembridge Fort.
