Richard Tyldsley is to take charge at Hampshire and Isle of Wight bus operators Bluestar and Southern Vectis, parent company Go South Coast has confirmed.

After graduating from Northumbria University in 2004, Richard began his career as a bus driver in County Durham for Go North East. He was quickly promoted to a supervisory role, before being appointed allocations manager.

He later joined Stagecoach South as assistant operations manager, and was promoted to operations manager in Winchester in 2010. Richard was part of the team which managed the athlete and media transport at London 2012, before taking on further responsibilities in Aldershot, Hampshire.

A wealth of experience
Go South Coast managing director, Andrew Wickham, said,

“We are pleased to be welcoming Richard as general manager for our Bluestar and Southern Vectis services in Southampton and the Isle of Wight.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience in managing complicated and challenging bus operations in various locations across England.

“I have no doubt he will play an important role in further enhancing the services we offer to local people and visitors wishing to travel across the region. And I wish him every success in the months and years ahead.”

An exciting opportunity
Richard will take the reigns from outgoing general manager Matt Kitchin, who is to join Stagecoach Manchester as operations director.

Richard said,

“This is an exciting opportunity – and I am very much looking forward to meeting my new colleagues and customers in Southampton and across the Isle of Wight.

“Bluestar and Southern Vectis already offer high quality bus services here, and I’m thrilled to be overseeing the excellent operations our teams are running.”
