New integrated drug and alcohol recovery services for the Island

This in from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, in their own words. Ed

Isle of Wight NHS Trust was successful in the tender for adult and young peoples’ integrated drug and alcohol recovery services across the island. The contract is due to commence on 1st October 2014 and the Trust has started to bring the three current services, provided by the Trust, Cranston and Isle of Wight Council, together.

Georgia Tuckey, Drug and Alcohol Team lead at Isle of Wight NHS Trust, says:

“As part of our implementation plan there will be a range of meetings happening across the Island and we will circulate the dates and times shortly. We are keen to work closely with all stakeholders on our plans to provide the opportunity for stakeholders, staff and service users to get involved in creating the new service. We will be running focus groups once the contract has commenced to involve service users in developing the name, logo and service information for the new service.”

In her letter to stakeholders and professionals and to service users and carers Georgia continues:

“I am aware that this may be a tense and anxious time for service users, staff and stakeholders. We are keen to provide regular communications in order that everyone is informed of our plans and understand what this means for the Island, organisations and them personally. We have a telephone helpline and e-mail address which are specifically available to respond to all queries and I would encourage you to get in touch with any questions you may have. In addition we will be developing the web page for the service.

“We are keen to work together with you to ensure not only the successful integration of the three services but also to improve our longer term joint working relationships. I look forward to meeting and working with many of you over the coming months.”
