Island-based music review Website, New Reviews, will be holding their first gig night at the Studio next month. Suzie Kidger from the site tells us more. Ed
New Reviews have been harassing bands since 2009. It doesn’t really have a great ring to it does it?
Well, if you haven’t heard of us, now is the time to! We are an Island based music review site, but we are definitely not one trick ponies; we have been interviewing some pretty hot bands, reviewing live gigs and writing up on the latest news pieces too!
We have reviewed bands and artists from all over, including America, Australia, New Zealand and just about everywhere in the UK. We are pretty easy going, and try our very best to give fair, honest reviews.
Time to branch out
Nevertheless, the time has come for us to host a gig for ourselves. We hunted around the Web, multiple venues and our box of tricks to see what we can come with, and this is how the line up stands – New Reviews presents ‘A night of mayhem’.
Holding its ground at The Studio in Newport, we are going to blow the roof off!
Southampton wonders
A gig headlined by Southampton wonders Broken Links; Influenced by the under-currents of post-punk, and then boxing it up into an old stone box made of pure hard industrial pop space rock and sin.
A band you simply cannot ignore. An alternative act from Eastleigh, Southampton, UK, the three piece is made up of Mark Lawrence on vocals and guitar, Lewis Betteridge on bass and Phil Boulter on drums. After playing once on the IOW, they are keen to return and leave their footprint.
Island talent too
Supporting them we have Chris Williams; Chris is a 17 year old singer songwriter from the Isle of Wight.
His blend of pop/blues/folk and acoustic music is about to emerge onto the Island scene, with his Debut EP due for release in late November.
As well as Here and Forever; Who are a female-fronted four piece pop-punk band from the Isle of Wight who only started out together in October 2010!
They have been playing regular slots on the Island, with brilliant feedback and are currently working on a 3-track EP as well as setting their sights on the IOW Festival and Bestival too.
Last but not least on our bill for the evening, we have M4CRO! The up and coming Electro DJ/Producer takes to the stage.
Combining big sounds from the electro scene and some energetic stage presence, this one is not to be missed! Check out this live video which will have you bouncing around in your seat.
Where and when
But, when, where, huh? Well, the gig will be at The Studio, on the 2nd of December!
It will be opening its doors to all you music lovers at 7.30pm and will continue until 11pm. The entry price stands at £3 at the door, and it is a 16+ event. Those drinking the wonder that is alcohol will need to bring ID!
We look forward to seeing you there, in the meantime, check out New Reviews Website to see what else we have to offer, and get yourself on Events on the Wight for details of all upcoming music gigs on the Island.
