New Wightlink Ferries Go Into Service Today

New Wightlink Ferries Go Into ServiceThe BBC are reporting today on the introduction of Wightlink’s two new ferries.

Anyone travelling on the Yarmouth-Lymington route recently couldn’t have helped but notice the gleaming new ferries based in the harbour.

There has been a great deal of opposition to the new larger ferries with the chairman of the Lymington Harbour Commissioners (LHC), Peter Griffiths, stating that “”Wightlink have defied the will of all the regulators in deciding to introduce their new ferries before the necessary safety trials are complete and the environmental concerns have been resolved.”

Incidentally we noticed four hours ago that fellow Twitter-er Greensub was reporting delays.

“Waiting at Yarmouth ferry terminal. New ferry Wight Sky started today, but long delays already… Time to tweet and read paper tho’ :-)”
