Newport ‘fork assault’ case to be hear at Isle of Wight court

A man has been charged in connection with an assault in Newport.

Police were called at 7.55pm on 21st September to an address on West Street with reports that a man had been assaulted with a fork, suffering injuries to his jaw and neck area.

Following enquiries, a 26-year-old of Barton Road in Newport, was charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

Remanded in custody
He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 25th September).

At the hearing, he was further remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th October.
