Newport Veterans Defeat Tottenham Hotspur Legends In Charity Match

Andy Sinton:Newport Veterans played against Tottenham Hotspur Legends at St George’s Park last weekend.

The Tottenham team included Andy Sinton (pictured right), who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday. He made his England debut in a 1-1 draw in Poland in November 1991, and went on to acquire 12 caps.

Joined by former Saint
He was joined by David Howells (pictured below), who’d played the majority of his playing career for Tottenham Hotspur, playing 227 matches over 13 years and hitting the net 22 times.

David also made a few appearances later on for Southampton in the Premier League.

David Howells:Other notable legends who played at the weekend were Justin Edinburgh, Mark Falco, Stuart Nethercott, Tony Galvin and John Lacy.

In a remarkable result, Newport (IW) Veterans won the match 3-1 in front of a large crowd with the money raised going to good causes.

The same Spurs Legends team won 19-1 only last month at Berkhamstead FC.
