The polls have now opened for members of the public to cast their votes for the most outstanding female sailor.
Since 2006, organisers of Cowes Week have run the competition to find the female sailor who has made the most impressive contribution to the sport this year.
“Anyone can nominate either themselves or a female sailor they believe has achieved something spectacular, perhaps overcoming a difficulty or challenge, or dedicating themselves to services to sailing.
“The nominated individual just needs to have competed in the regatta in recent years and be available to attend the overall prize-giving on Saturday 8 August” said Michelle Warner, Sales & Marketing Director for Cowes Week Ltd.
You can post your recommendations at on the Cowes Week Website, (keep it to 250 words) by Friday 31 July 2009. The entries will then be judged by a panel of experts, and the Trophy presented at the end of the week.
