Island Web company, OC Group, have struck global Web fame with one of their recent clients.
The Virgin Global Row Web site has been featured on Google’s own blog, highlighting how Google was keen to contribute to the project. In particular they mention the real-time map, using the latest version of Google Earth.
Why is VentnorBlog talking about this? Well – and get ready to puff up your chest Island – the whole of the Web site was designed, created and built on the Island.
It was designed by Wez Maynard and build by Dan Van Cuylenburg at the OC Group, based in Venture Quays, East Cowes.
The site has the bleedin’ lot in terms of Web technology – blog posts which are geo-marked (positioned in the World) and displayed on a map; a social network; video; photographs; reader suggested questions, complete with voting – you name it, and it’s probably got it.
Rowing solo around the world
The Virgin Global Row is an amazing undertaking, where Olly Hicks is attempting to be the first person to row solo around the world over the next two years.
If you have a look at the site, you can monitor Olly’s progress.
Watching it this morning, we saw how poor old Olly has, over the last few days, had to row around in circles which, when you’re going to row around the world, must be very tough on the psyche of the rower.
Well done to the OC Group on creating such an attention grabbing site. Big up the Island!
