Quay Arts invites you to browse amongst painting, sculpture, print, drawing contemporary craft and photography created by over 100 selected local and national artists for this year’s open exhibition ‘Location’.
Whether you are a serious collector, a casual buyer or just interested in contemporary art, ‘Location’ is a great opportunity to experience a range of affordable works and make purchases in time for Christmas.
The exhibition is the result of an ‘open’ competition whereby artists and photographers were inviged to submit their work to Quay Arts. The competition was run nationally, so it’s great to see that so many Islanders made it into the final.
The selection panel will choose one artist for a solo Michael West Gallery Exhibition in 2009.
The panel will consist of; David Firmstone MBE – Vice president of Watercolour Society and board member, Quay Arts, Mick Smith – Director Quay Arts, Sally Taylor – Lecturer in Fine Art and previous Michael West Exhibitor, Quay Arts and Jo Hummel-Newell RCA – Exhibitions Organiser, Quay Arts.
The images shown here are silkscreen prints from photos by Newport Artist, Karen Brown from Leaping Hare Designs. Karen tells us that she has six images as prints so far and intends to add another six and put these into sets of collectible handprinted postcards which will be available in decorative paper wallets (like in the olden days of yore). Sounds great.
