Open Letter To Andrew Turner, MP: Support Early Day Motion To Release Lansley’s Risk Register

Thanks to Mark Lansbury for sharing this open letter to Isle of Wight MP, Andrew Turner with VB readers. In his own words. Ed

Early Day MotionDear Mr. Turner,

Your government’s healthcare bill — which you support — endangers everyone in England.

During our two meetings, you clearly made the point that you feel competition and pursuit of profits will improve medical care in England. This despite numerous academic studies, examples of your private and corporate healthcare systems failing hundreds of millions of people right now. Information I’ve provided you with.

Ignoring the facts
The seemingly unwillingness to integrate facts around healthcare systems in your decision making process is, with all respect, rather mind boggling.

Your own government has produced Lansley’s Risk Register at tax payer expense. This reports the dangerous risks to the NHS that will most likely be the result of his Health and Social Care bill (which you support).

This bill has been implemented in many areas already and, thus, has blatantly ignored the Parliamentary process specifically and the democratic process generally.

“Sometimes we get it wrong?”
During one of our meetings I asked you why your government has implemented huge areas of this bill prior to it becoming law. Your answer was (paraphrasing): Perhaps 90% of all legislation passes, becoming law. Sometimes we get it wrong.

In other words, getting it ‘wrong’ by implementing legislation that may not become law. You were unable to explain either the legality or democratic morality of these actions. Actions that has cost England, from what I’ve read today, roughly £2 BILLION with more being spent every hour of every day.

Lansley’s Risk Register should be public
Lansley’s Risk Register has been withheld from the public, MPs and the Lords. Logic and common sense strongly suggest the study published (Lansley’s Risk Register) provides more proof the Health and Social Care bill endangers the health and medical care of all in England.

Do you wish to know the contents of Lansley’s Risk Register?

Based on our prior meetings and your dismissal of other factual, academic reports, it would appear that more information warning of the destruction of our country’s healthcare system would have little, if any, effect on your position for supporting corporate profits over the citizen’s medical care.

Therefore, as a constituent I respectfully ask you to sign Grahame Morris’ Early Day Motion 2659 insisting on the release of Lansley’s Risk Register.

Show your support for Early Day Motion
Not signing Grahame Morris’ Early Day Motion 2659 would demonstrate your support for the repression of the free flow of information regarding the top down reorganization of the NHS — something you and your party promised not to do.

Supporting the continued repression of Lansley’s Risk Register would, of course, make it easier for you to continue telling us the NHS is safe in your hands; that you are ‘protecting’ the NHS.

Your honestly, transparency and integrity will be measured by your decision to sign Grahame Morris’ Early Day Motion 2659.

Regards, Mark Lansbury

Grahame Morris’ Early Day Motion 2659.
