Toby Batchelor and Ollie Coulson from Newport RC notched up their opening win of the season in the Hants and Dorset Poole Regatta last Saturday (10th July).
Rowing in the Junior Pair event they took an early lead against a strong field representing mainland clubs.
They took the buoy turn ahead of the pack and powered through choppy conditions to extend their lead to over four lengths at the finish.
They continue their campaign next week at Southsea, with the aim of collecting enough wins to enter the South Coast Championships in September.
