  • At AS, Value Added was graded as Outstanding, better than 90% of UK students)
  • At AS, students achieved 4% more HIGH grades than the previous year against a national trend downwards

Principal: “So proud of the students”
College Principal, Debbie Lavin, was full of praise for this spectacular performance,

“I am so proud of the students, and the staff who helped them exceed their expectations, to secure for themselves the destination of choice. Against a backdrop of rising standards this was a performance of the highest calibre.

“I am thrilled that so many will progress now to Higher Education and top quality Apprenticeships. I am proud for them, their parents and carers and the staff who have all worked so hard to materialise this performance.”

Vice Principal, Lynne Christopher (responsible for student performance) added,

“Much energy and effort was put into ensuring students achieved their target grades, based upon previous GCSE performance, and to see so many students achieving grades higher than predicted is for me, the most gratifying outcome.

“The Isle of Wight College has a considerable national reputation for Adding Value to student grades but this year, the performance has exceeded even my hopes and dreams.”

Catherine Jackson, the College Careers Advisor, was also thrilled,

“Student progression to Higher Education has never been better, and year-on-year we are seeing more and more achieving places of choice, places at the very best Universities and succeeding beyond their wildest expectations.”
