Over £400 raised by Newchurch singers at fundraising concert

Cloisters:

Many thanks to Barry for this latest updated from Newchurch Male Voice Choir. Ed

Newchurch Male Voice Choir’s programme for last Saturday’s concert brought ‘something old’ and ‘something new’ to an audience of about 100.

Something old came in the shape of three songs added to the Choirs repertoire namely; Yesterday and When I’m Sixtyfour (Beatles) and Howard Goodalls The Lord is my shepherd (Psalm 23), the theme from the BBC TV series ‘The Vicar of Dibly’.

The new, was our soprano soloist Charlotte Callaghan 18, from Ryde, singing with us for the first time. Two of the songs Charlotte sang, ‘Summer Time’ from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Schubert’s Ave Maria were both beautifully sung.

Charlotte is off in September to the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music to continue her voice training and will be singing with the Choir again later this year.

The Friends of Holy Trinity Cloisters Appeal have expressed their, “thanks, pleasure and gratitude for your wonderful concert on Saturday evening and also to the lovely, very talented soloist. You raised £408 for the Cloisters Appeal.”
