Over a decade of leadership: Isle of Wight College Chair bids farewell

The Isle of Wight College has announced the retirement of Dr Nick England from his position as Chair of Governors.

After more than 16 years of dedicated service and valuable contributions, Dr England passes the baton to Mrs Sara Weech (pictured right), an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in the field of healthcare and education.

Played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction
During his tenure as Chair, Nick England (pictured left) has played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Isle of Wight College, ensuring its commitment to providing quality education and fostering an environment conducive to students’ success.

Under his leadership, the college has witnessed significant growth, embraced innovation, and maintained its position as a centre of excellence in the south of England.

Parker: He leaves behind a remarkable legacy
Ros Parker OBE, Principal of the College (pictured centre), has said,

“Nick’s passion for education and his unwavering dedication to the students have been instrumental in shaping the college’s vision.

“He leaves behind a remarkable legacy, marked by his commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and empowering students to reach their full potential.”

England: Confident the college will continue to thrive
Nick England has said,

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as the Chair of Governors for the Isle of Wight College. It has been an incredible journey, working with a talented and dedicated team.

“I am confident that the college will continue to thrive under the leadership of Sara Weech, and I wish her all the best in her new role.”

Extensive leadership skills
The college’s new Chair, Sara Weech, has been a governor at the Isle of Wight College since February 2021.

Following a distinguished career in the health sector, Sara has extensive leadership skills as well as a deep knowledge and understanding of the Island’s community, having worked with and supported a number of local charities and organisations.

Sara Weech has said,

“I am really excited about becoming Chair of the Isle of Wight College and building on previous achievements.

“I have been so impressed with the range and quality of learning the college has to offer and the care and kindness it provides to all our learners and staff.”
