Belinda Maude writes in The Telegraph about a recent jaunt to the Isle of Wight – one of many by the sounds of it – during which she faced her fears head on and tried out paragliding.
Her experience is beautifully written and accompanied by a great video – shot by Rhiannon Edwards – providing views of the Military Road as you’ve possibly never seen it before.
Wonderfully descriptive
We love the Belinda’s description of how it felt once she was in the air.
She wrote,
“We were soaring with the seagulls, our legs dangling above the Lego world we had left behind. Suspended like a puppet, I was a comically sized human: just one of my feet was the size of the Isle of Wight in its entirety.”
Going on to say,
“Hills rolled away into the distance, the sea seemed to creep about the coastline, and my fear evaporated. The Island – which I know well and visit often – stretched out beneath me, unrecognisable in its flat-plan form. Visible were ferries riding the Solent’s bumpy waves, cars meandering along roads, and cows, oblivious to the people swooping above them, sunning themselves in the green fields below.”
Why not take a couple of minutes out to watch the video.
