Parents of young girls: Warning over request for photos

It’s understood that young girls across the UK – including incidents on the Isle of Wight – are being approached over Facebook to send photos of themselves with the lure of being involved in modelling.

Quay Arts name misused
This was brought to our attention by Quay Arts, who, originally unknown to them, have been used in correspondence with these young girls, with the email claiming that this is where modelling would be discussed. It’s absolutely not the case.

Charlotte from Quay Arts told OnTheWight, “It’s upsetting that they’ve used the name Quay Arts.”

Marlowe Costumes name falsely used too
The other name that is being used is Marlowe Costumes – again not actually connected with this modelling scam. Both organisations have acted wisely and posted messages on their Websites so people become aware of it.

The email address that the young girls are being requested to send photos of themselves to is “[email protected]

If you know people with young daughters, do share this link with them. If they’ve been approached, the advice is to contact Police on 101.

Messages from the companies
Quay Arts say

“It has been brought to our attention that someone is using legitimate company Marlowe Costumes name to entice young people through Facebook to send them photos and meet for modelling work at Quay Arts. Quay Arts are not involved in any such event and would advise that if you have been approached, please inform the police immediately by calling 101.”

Marlowe Costumes have a similar message saying

Modeling Photos – It has been brought to our attention that someone is using Marlowe Costumes name to entice young people to send them photos and meet for modeling work. We only ever use family and friend for our images and would never ask anyone through facebook. If you have been approached please email us and inform the police.
