The central Government Website, where people book their PCR test, is showing that there are ‘None Available’ on the Isle of Wight.
The Island is the only area in the South East showing this.
Berkshire, Middlesex and Surrey are showing ‘Very few available’. All other areas are showing ‘Available.’
Four other areas of the county are also showing ‘None available’: Hertfordshire; Suffolk; Bristol; and Mendip.
Council response
News OnTheWight has asked the council to find out when PCR tests will become available again on the Isle of Wight. An IW council spokesperson said:
“The online portal whereby anyone can book a PCR test will always show an overview of availability of appointments across all of the regions. When a site has had all appointments booked for the day it will show that none are available until test appointments are released for the next day. Appointments for the following day are not shown or made available until later in the afternoon and/or evening.
“The portal is regularly monitored by ourselves and we can confirm appointments are now readily available at Newclose to be booked for tomorrow. If anyone is unable to attend the site or book an appointment there is also the option to order a PCR test kit to their home.
“We closely monitor the situation to ensure there is sufficient testing availability for all island residents. “
Website update
16:19 – The Website has now been updated and the whole county, so all of the ‘None available’ and the ‘Very few available’ – apart from Sedgemoor and Hartlepool – have been switched to ‘Available.’
In short: The Website now says PCR tests on the Isle of Wight are now ‘Available.’
