The Isle of Wight Youth Trust offers a wide range of support to children, young people and their families. As a part of this they offer a supply of free toiletries and hygiene products to those who may need it.
Pertemps, a supporter of the Youth Trust, have been running a collection for hygiene products for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust from July through to 20th September 2024.
Morey: As recruiters, we understand the importance of first impressions
Rhiannon Morey, Branch Manager at Pertemps, stated,
“It has been a real pleasure to collect items for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust. It can be quite daunting as we never know what kind of response we will receive, however we are overwhelmed by the generosity of those who have donated.
“As recruiters, we understand the importance of first impressions, which is why we wanted to collect basic hygiene products for those in need. Also, at Pertemps, we absolutely love giving back to our Island community!”
A massive thank you to all the companies, businesses and individuals who donated, this includes:
- Rouse Limited
- Power Device UK
- Lifeline Alarm Systems Ltd
- Unique Seaflex
- Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary
- Pertemps
Products offered to anyone who comes through the door
At the trust, they have roughly 140 young people a week through the door and a further 80 through their Youth Hub.
In the Youth Hub, they offer the products to anyone who comes through the door. They regularly provide homeless young people with hygiene products, and their clients who come through for employment support, also regularly have access to the hygiene bank, this supports them as they are often on a low income. It has contributed to their successes at job interviews!
Savill: Hygiene poverty is often overlooked
Paul Savill, Wellbeing Lead at the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, said,
“Hygiene poverty is often overlooked, many families are having to go without everyday essentials like shampoo, toothpaste, shower gel and period products. Young people especially want to look and smell their best to keep friendships and to interview for work or training.
“These products donated by Pertemps have arrived at a great time as the charity is supporting many children and young people who are trying their best in difficult circumstances.”
The hygiene bank is accessible in Isle of Wight Youth Trust Reception and there is also one in the Youth Hub.
