Organisers of the Pier2Pier Sea Swim due to take place on Saturday 5th August 2023 have announced its cancellation due to the forecast of bad weather.
Bob Cooper from IOW Marlins told News OnTheWight,
“The safety and well-being of swimmers and safety craft are our utmost priority, and this decision was made with careful consideration.
“We would like to extend our sincere apologies for the inconvenience that this cancellation will cause, and offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who continues to support the event, including local charities, organisations and individuals, as well as the swimmers entered into the Swim.
“We are now looking to planning the 2024 event which will be our 70th year. We plan to make it a special and memorable celebration, scheduled for Saturday 20th July 2024 with a back-up date of Saturday 3rd August 2024.”
