That great organ of national news reporting, The Sun, is reporting today that the group which owns Planet Ice has received winding up orders from the taxman.
The Isle of Wight is named alongside seven other venues at risk of closure, despite the company, The Arena Group, saying they’ll fight the order in the High Court.
The Sun claims that an insider told them that “as each rink is registered as a separate company, Arena may use the orders as a chance to decide which to keep or close.”
Readers may remember a proposal that was floated last year to develop the ice rink (Ryde Arena), combining it with a new Lidl store.
