Platform One marks 25 years with student-led fundraiser at GG’s Restaurant and Bar

Last updated:

Platform One is proud to announce a special fundraiser and celebration event marking over two and a half decades of music education and creative excellence, taking place at GG’s Restaurant and Bar just outside Newport on Saturday 30th May 2026.

Students take charge of every element of the night
This event is designed and implemented entirely by our second-year BTEC students, who are responsible for every aspect of the night, from planning, marketing, and design to production and programming the full evening’s entertainment as part of their Collaborative Project – marking the end of two years of full-time study.

The event showcases not only their musical ability but also their professional and industry-focused skills across multiple disciplines.

Sustainable fashion takes the spotlight
Alongside a packed programme of live music and entertainment, the evening will also feature a curated display created by our Sustainable Fashion students, showcasing their designs and garments produced over the past two years.

This exhibition highlights the breadth of creativity and talent across the Platform One student community.

Raffle prizes and where the money goes
Adding to the evening, there will be a fundraising raffle, with the top prize being two VIP Isle of Wight Festival tickets.

All money generated from ticket sales and the raffle will go directly towards purchasing new equipment and funding renovations at the Platform One main site in Dodnor, helping to improve facilities for future generations of students.

Open to all: students, alumni and the wider community
The event is open to all and welcomes our current students, Platform One alumni from across the years, and friends, family, and members of the wider community.

Adam Tabner, FE Programme Manager, said,

“The Collaborative Project was conceived to equip students with skills that extend beyond the rehearsal room or studio and into the wider creative industries. Over the past two events, our students have raised funds for Wessex Cancer Support.

“This year, the students chose to celebrate Platform One’s 25th anniversary by raising money to enhance our current facilities and improve the experience for future students.”

Live music from Level 3 Performance students
Level 3 Performance students will take to the stage with an exciting set of original music and Tribute Act repertoire, celebrating the breadth of talent nurtured at Platform One.

To honour the role our former students have played in the Platform One story, there will be a special alumni discount on tickets.

A special welcome back for alumni
Alumni are warmly invited to come along, reconnect with old friends, meet the next generation of Platform One talent, and celebrate the journey so far.

This student-led celebration promises to be a vibrant and memorable evening of live music, fashion, community, and creativity, all in support of providing a great experience for generations of students to come.
